Colonial Power & Sport

From Brick & Mortar to Adobe Commerce

Seamless Transformation to an Integrated eCommerce Site

Alongside many brick and mortar businesses, Colonial Power & Sport (CPS) realized the COVID-19 pandemic was forcing them to pivot their traditional in-store sales channel. However, as an outdoor power and sports equipment dealership and parts seller, that shift would likely prove more complex than most.

To best ensure a successful eCommerce launch, CPS turned to DotcomWeavers—and has been thrilled they did ever since.

Our Approach

Plan

Understanding that standing up a new digital storefront alongside a brick-and-mortar location is challenging, DotcomWeavers worked with CPS to define a clear plan including: a full-scale design, development, launch of CPS’ eCommerce site, front end UX, and back end integrations.

Build

Our development team created CPS’ new digital storefront on Adobe’s Commerce / Magento platform, implemented a robust parts catalog, integrated multiple third party ERP, CRM and Products APIs to ensure a seamless customer experience.

Grow

The omnichannel initiatives that DotcomWeavers has enabled have led to CPS partnering with us for SEO, marketing, paid advertisement, and social media promotion.

The Result

CPS is able to effectively engage their customers in the digital ecosystems they naturally gravitate towards and leverage current trends like social commerce to expand and support different sales channels.

CPS has been so thrilled with their partnership with DotcomWeavers and transformation from a purely brick and mortar store to an integrated eCommerce site that they’ve expanded their relationship with ongoing support and digital marketing services."

The Details

Back-End Integrations

Back-end integrations may be invisible to customers, but they’re absolutely essential for streamlined eCommerce operations. They help ensure data availability, accuracy, and consistency across all ERP and management software platforms in your eCommerce ecosystem for prompt, insightful decision-making. In addition, integration-supported automations reclaim substantial bandwidth for employees.

To build CPS’ new digital storefront on Adobe’s Commerce / Magento platform, these integrations would all require custom development or configurations. DotcomWeavers implemented the following integrations for the CPS’ site:

  • Lizzy ERP
  • Zoho CRM
  • New In-Store Processess and POS for Floor Sales
  • Multichannel Sales integrated with eBay and Amazon
  • Security and Fraud Protection

Front-End UX

Optimized back-end management is essential, but so is an eCommerce site’s front-end user experience (UX). Without an easily navigable site layout, visitors will quickly become frustrated with their inability to find and order the products they need.

Parts Finder

To prevent losing potential customers to online competitors, DotcomWeavers built CPS a custom Parts Finder.

This Parts Finder’s search capability includes exploded technical diagrams and “hot spots” to help customers find the precise SKU to fix, maintain, or upgrade their outdoor power or sports equipment. Customers can now open exploded technical diagrams and click on the number associated with a part to open a pop-up window listing the name, SKU, and price.

Parts Search and Filter

CPS’ customers can also use a standard parts search or browse the CPS product catalog with extensive filters to find what they need.

The catalog can be filtered by:

  • Categories (e.g., body, brakes)
  • Sub Categories (e.g., accessories, bolt kits)
  • Price
  • Size/weight
  • Manufacturer

Marketing

The eCommerce initiatives that DotcomWeavers has enabled have led to CPS partnering with us and leverage our marketing services. These services facilitate CPS’ ability to engage their customers in the digital ecosystems they naturally gravitate towards and leverage current trends like social commerce to expand and support different sales channels.
